Introduction to Signalong
This is an 8 hour accredited course and suitable for anyone who provides support for those who use Signalong as part of their communication.
This course provides the opportunity to explore and ‘get to grips’ with Signalong for those who may not have used it before.
Some key aims are to discuss the main objectives of Signalong by explaining the 6 core points of the Signalong Philosophy and outline reasons for using sign supported communication.
Signalong Foundation Course- Phase 1
This is a 15 hour accredited course and suitable for anyone who provides support for those who use Signalong as part of their communication.
A key aim is to explore the Signalong methodology in order to be able to read, understand and interpret sign descriptions so as to perform them accurately.
It aims to develop the skills learners already have, to understand the communication process and to develop their ability to communicate with those who have communication impairments.
Signalong Foundation Course-Phase 2
This is an accredited course and suitable for anyone who provides support for those who use Signalong as part of their communication.
Learners must have already completed the Foundation Phase 1 in order to attend this course.
Learners gain access to a wider range of vocabulary and have the opportunity to practice signing together. You will have the opportunity to practice signing to support a child with communication difficulties in the practitioners setting.
These workshops are a fun opportunity for professionals to learn useful signs relating to various themes through songs, stories and activities.
Signalong Workshop – Parent and Child
These workshops are a fun opportunity for parents and carers to learn important everyday signs through songs, stories and activities alongside their child. This provides a chance to make new friends and meet other parents and carers who are also caring for children with communication difficulties. To ensure learnt signs are tailored to the family’s needs parents and carers have the opportunity to request pertinent signs prior to the workshop.
