This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our work supporting our young people and families and has been made possible due to funding from Global’s Make Some Noise Charity. This is a two year fixed term contract.
Parents of children or young adults with complex health needs and disabilities need time to adjust and learn to care for the needs of their children from diagnosis onwards. Young adults need support with accessing services, especially in the transition from child to adult services.
The job will be central to the development of ongoing support for families in a range of activities across the adult and children’s centres and will involve some outreach work and home visiting. Allowing parents and carers time to talk, to voice their concerns and to understand the developmental needs of their children / young adults will be central to the role.
The Hive, based at Johnson Place Children’s Service, is a space for parents/carers and users of The Hamlet to meet and seek this advice and support as well as acting as a safe haven to reach out to other families of children / young adults with disabilities or additional needs.
