Amber and Ben say ‘City Breaks’ is the best for teenagers.

Amber and Ben share why they keep coming back to The Hamlet and love attending ‘City Breaks’, our group that supports young people to move into adulthood.
Amber and Ben say ‘City Breaks’ is the best for teenagers.

Amber and Ben, both now 16 years of age, have been attending The Hamlet since they were tiny. Amber at the children’s creche from the age of 3 at Ella Road and Ben going to playschemes since about 7.

Amber has gone to Youth Club and Playschemes in the past, and now enjoys our new ‘City Breaks’ scheme, much more suitable for her age group. She explains: “City Breaks is good fun. You get to go out into the city with your friends and go to places like the apple store, cinema and park. I like seeing my friends outside of school.”

Ben likewise explains why ‘City Breaks’ is such fun: “I get to chill with my friends. Last week we went to Norwich Castle which was cool. We also went bowling and to the cinema. I won at bowling too. If I didn’t go to ‘City Breaks’ at The Hamlet I would just be at home watching movies. I would much rather be doing activities at ‘City Breaks’.

Amber and Ben go on to explain how great the staff are. Ben said: “The staff are really helpful. They look after my care needs. They are all lovely.”

Ben also explained that City Breaks allowed him to look after his own money, paying for lunch out at Morrisons café and talking to people out in the public like shop assistants. “We do loads at ‘City Breaks’”, comments Ben. “I love it” chips in Amber.
