A BIG THANK YOU to 11 year old fundraiser Tom Willimott who completed a 12 mile walk around the Norwich ring road with his mum Suzie in aid of The Hamlet. They raised £275.67p in total!
On Saturday 2nd November Tom and his mum Suzie walked the Norwich ring road taking 4 hours and 46 minutes exactly.
Inspirational Tom has now completed a second fundraising challenge for charity after performing a sponsored silence last year in aid of cancer research. Tom explained: "I like to do fundraising so that I can make a difference. I knew The Hamlet charity because my friends uncle used to use it and a teacher from school had someone go there. We also knew about it from years ago when we used the toy library."
Tom had originally wanted to shave his hair off to raise money, but mum Suzie convinced him better of this; "I don't think the shaved hair would have gone down so well at school! The walk was a challenge and our feet ached for days after! I'm so very proud of Tom and his efforts to raise money for The Hamlet. It's not all children that would give up time to do something like this."
Tom also commented that "The uphill bits were the most difficult! I ran the last part once I knew we were near home."
Tom and Suzie got to visit the children's centre with a tour of the building and our facilities.
Without people like Tom and Suzie we would not be able to fund services like our stay and play family sessions for under 5s which is completely dependent on the efforts of fundraising or one-off grants to meet costs. THANK YOU Tom and Suzie for your support.
