Bumper Summer Playscheme

"Worthwhile, entertaining and .... exhausting! But we LOVE IT!!" words chosen by Health Support staff member Jack as he and the team at Johnson Place Children's Service launch this years Summer Short Break Playschemes.
Bumper Summer Playscheme

The summer playscheme for children aged between 3 and years of age, has long been a highlight of the year for the young people, families, volunteers and staff who work at The Hamlet. This year feels particularly special after 2020's playscheme was compromised due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, which reduced numbers of children being able to attend the holiday sessions. This year we are pleased to welcome back lots of our young people and families we have not been able to see for a while, as we go back to full capacity.

Children's Service Manager Jayne said, "The happiness and safety of the children in our care is always our priority. I feel assured that we have the right safety precautions in place. We have relaxed some measures, but staff will continue to wear masks indoors, deep cleaning will happen throughout the day and handwashing a priority. I join the staff team in being excited to welcome back so many of our families and having some fun over the summer with their children.

Deputy Manager and Short Break Lead, Jade commented, "I'm SO looking forward to a summer of 'almost' normality - seeing the smiles on the faces of the young people we support and welcoming families back we haven't seen for a while due to COVID. Summer Scheme of fun is incoming!"

The team have planned an action packed summer full of great activities and experiences. The first week starts with an 'Under the Sea' theme including messy icecream play, ice lolly making, and of course lots of water play. Week 3 is a Science Week, with an opportunity to make lava lamps, exploding volcanoes and human sized bubbles! Specialist Play Lead, Charlie said,"I'm most looking forward to having outside entertainers back at The Hamlet - I can't wait to see the mini monsters and find out what the young people think!" Charlie summed up her thoughts of Summer Scheme at The Hamlet in three words... "Rewarding, exciting, inspiring! I wonder what 3 words you would use to describe your experience of Summer holiday playschemes at The Hamlet? We'd love to know. Email your 3 words to Jade: admin@thehamletcharity.org.uk
