Are you looking for a meaningful and rewarding challenge? Could you put your knowledge and expertise to good use by positively impacting the lives of people with disabilities in Norfolk? An exciting opportunity has arisen for new trustees to join our board at The Hamlet Charity.

New trustees will join a lively, committed and supportive team of people who provide guidance and strategic direction to the Charity. Members of the board come from a range of professional backgrounds including some who have experience of disability. We are currently seeking applications from those with professional skills in or knowledge of law, property, HR, social care, or local government.

  • No prior board experience required – we welcome first-time board members and those looking to take the next step in their career.

  • Full induction and ongoing support provided, including mentoring and guidance from experienced board members.
  • Help shape the direction of The Hamlet and make a meaningful impact on its future.
  • Bring your ideas, skills, and experience to contribute to innovation and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do:

  • Attend six board meetings per year (6:30–8:00 PM) and the Annual General Meeting.
  • Participate in a Trustee Away Day each November and one or two service visits or events annually.
  • Review CEO reports, monthly accounts, and other board documents in advance.
  • Contribute to financial planning and discuss general organizational work.
  • Apply your skills to ensure strong governance, operational efficiency, and strategic impact.

Time Commitment:
Moderate, with meetings roughly every other month plus occasional events and planning sessions.

About The Hamlet Charity

The Hamlet Charity has been supporting children and young people with disabilities and their families for over 50 years. We are now looking for new Trustees to help govern and support the organisation as we look ahead to the next 50 years.

Trustees play a vital role in guiding our strategy, supporting our leadership team, and ensuring we deliver the greatest possible impact for the children, young people and families we serve.

We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in:

  • Legal
  • Finance
  • Lived experience of disability or caring

However, we welcome applications from anyone who shares our passion and values and wants to make a positive contribution.

Salary: Voluntary role
